Plant care best practices
They thrive well in warm humid climates. Keeping them inside the house and regular watering will help the plants to grow well. In natural conditions, the plants grow below the tree canopy. Thus they have developed in a manner that they need less light and thrive in moisture and warmth of the forest floor. Keeping them moist is a must and one needs to make sure that they are properly watered. Direct sunlight will burn the leaves of the plants and so they need to be kept indoors or in proper shade. There should not be any water logging as it can lead to root rot. The plants will grow well when taken care of properly.
Once received, open the plant, water it and keep in shade for a few days before repotting
Planting medium needs
A soil that retains water well is needed. There should be sufficient mix of peat to make sure that water can be retained. Overwatering needs to be avoided so there should be provisions for water drainage.
Consistent moist soil needs to be maintained. But nor overwatered. Water the plant when the soil is dry. As a thumb rule, one can water the plant every 3 days till the soil is wet.
It can survive well in warm climates and medium temperatures. The plant cannot take winter freeze. So, it needs to be saved from the freezing temperatures.
Once every month, a small amount of organic fertilizer can be given
Insects and bugs : Use water to blow them off. Else, neem oil.
Root rot : The root rot happens due to over watering. Keep the plant in full sun for a white.
Burnt leaves : Exposure to sun. Move the plant away from the direct sun and keep in shade.
