Rajiv Gandhi National park is located in the center of Proddatur town and rises into the massive sand dunes as a unique ecosystem of about 2.4 square kilometers of the sheer sandy bottom of the River Penna. Rameswaram, also known as Rajiv Gandhi National Park, is located in the Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh amid the middle plains of the extended hill ranges of the Veligondas, Palakondas, Lankamallais, and Yerramalais.

Dry deciduous woodland in the tropics. The Sanctuary is largely made of sand. Moreover, there are plains with forests of eucalyptus and sissoo (sesham) trees.\
More than 25 plant species, including Dalbergia sissoo, Grewia villosa, Gymnema sylvestre, etc., have been left to the park.
Wildlife
This woodland is home to a wide variety of invertebrates, including scorpions, spiders, butterflies, grasshoppers, crickets, etc. Animals from the amphibian flora include the bullfrog, the common Indian toad, and others. The fauna of reptiles includes species like the Common skink, the Russell’s viper, and the earth boa. This woodland is home to more than 50 different bird species, including peacocks, little egrets, parakeets, and others. This sand dune environment is home to mammals like Spotted deer, Common mongoose, and Black napped hare.
Best time to visit
The best time to visit Rajiv Gandhi National park in Kadapa District in Andhra Pradesh, India is during the winter months between October and March. During this time, the weather is pleasant with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 30°C, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. The monsoon season, which lasts from June to September, brings heavy rains to the region, and the summer season, which lasts from April to June, can be very hot with temperatures reaching up to 40°C. Therefore, it is best to avoid visiting Kadapa District during these seasons.
If planning to visit Kadapa District for the annual Brahmotsavam festival held at the Sri Venkateswara temple in Tirumala, which is about 100 km from Kadapa, then the best time to visit is between September and November.
