Location and Geology

Trees Found in the Thar desert

Some animals, such as the desert hedgehog, burrow underground to escape the extreme heat some animals in the Thar Desert, such as the desert monitor lizard, have adapted to regulate their body temperature by basking in the sun to warm up and seeking shade to cool down. Some species, such as the desert sand gazelle, have adapted to migrate seasonally in search of food and water. Many desert animals have adapted to conserve energy by reducing their activity levels during the day, and by seeking refuge from the sun in the shade of rocks, bushes, or burrows.
